Being a bigger person!!

Image
Being a bigger person I read someplace - “ Kill them with kindness. Never argue with a fool as they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Be the bigger person because we reside in a beautiful world among a few malicious individuals. ” " Be the bigger person. " Who is this bigger person? How to distinguish that big man in broad life? What is the fundamental significance of being a bigger person? And most important of all the concerns - how to become that bigger person? In my trivial understanding of the topic, being the bigger person has zero relationships to being a self-righteous prig who runs around feeling proud of those who behave contrarily. Being a bigger person has nothing to do with seeing other people, including those who annoy us, as “small”. Being the bigger person is certainly not the art of concealing our opinions or sticking our chest out with arrogance because of our ability to do an impeccable Dr. Spock impression. The Happy Prince (Short Story)

Image
The Happy Prince (Image-Internet) “The Happy Prince” by Oscar Wilde inhabits themes like social injustice, the redemptive power of love, and the loss of innocence. I read this one in 9th class. For me, this story is about friendship, desire, and the credible strength of human existence which enables others to be part of one's riches. The story is- There once was a statue of a prince. When alive, he lived in a palace… unaware of any kind of human hardship and misery. His life was full of joys. Upon his death, his statue was built at the top of a tall column in the city. The statue was covered all over with thin leaves of fine gold, for eyes he had two bright sapphires, and a large red ruby glowed on his sword-hilt. The statue of the Happy Prince looked beautiful and everyone in the city admired it. Since he was placed high above the city, the Prince was able to witness all the sorrows and sufferings which the common people faced in their daily life. This made the Prince very sad. H...

Hard decision- e-book or Real book?

Image
ebooks vs real book (image- internet) As far as I recollect, I have forever been a bookworm . Give me my books, a mug of coffee and leave me at the beach- THAT IS MY DREAM. Books give me solace when the going gets hard. Opening up hundreds of worlds as the pages flip, books are a secret door to an undiscovered place. Whenever my love affair with reading is talked about, I have been confronted with a particular question– ebooks or real books ? And my constant retort to this inquiry is- A book with great content is my certain requirement. It does not make a difference whether the pages are flipped or swiped!! With ramifications of the Covid pandemic and delivery constraints, e-books have turned out to be my recent favorite format of reading. However, the glamour of reading from the physical book is never-ever dying on me. To me, the excitement of getting an e-book instantly vs sitting tight on the door waiting for the arrival of a physical book is like the taste of sugar and spice- both...

The-Kid-In-Me

Image
The kid in our souls Today while I was sitting in the airport seeing my kids running carefree... with no fear of Covid or chance of missing the flight... I drove down the memory lane of my childhood...the bits of flying and saving the world with Shaktiman , the era of solving the cases with Chacha Chaudhary , playing Hide & Seek in the middle of the hot summer afternoon and days of munching Uncle Chips! Childhood was that golden period of my life which still glitters in my remembrance and sparkles the dust of hope and assurance. That was my favorite type of life which was carefree and simple, and when I did not need any rationales to laugh and giggle.  As I have grown up, I feel inundated with responsibilities (not that I am complaining!!) but to conform to a certain way of living, it seems that I tend to live more for tomorrow than the present. The kid inside me severely misses laughing without a reason, and an easy-going nature to forgive and forget. So, I consciously ...
