The Wise General (Short Story)

Image
Reading Stories to attain Wisdom Disclaimer- It is a popular story shared on social networks. Long ago, there was a battle about to seize the place. One of the generals was discussing tactics with his battalion of officers. An officer interrupted him and explained that he assumed that the strategy was a waste of time. “The God has already decided who will win.” he proclaimed. “Are you indicating that fate has decided the outcome in advance?” the general raised a question. “Yes, I am.” the officer replied. The general took a coin out of his satchel and said, “So if I toss this coin and it comes up heads, we win, but if its tails we lose. Is that how fate works?” “Pretty much.” said the officer. The general tossed the coin and it came up heads. “See, God has decided. We can’t lose now!” They went to their armies with the good news and the soldiers marched into battle with renewed enthusiasm. After a glorious coup, the officers met in the general’s tent to celebrate. “Do you believe in

Book Review- The Archer by Paulo Coelho

Archer with companion   Image from Internet Disclaimer- This book review is majorly a self-contemplation. The personalized meaning derived from books vis-Ă -vis life experiences. The quotes are used directly from the book. This sleek volume ( barely one hour read ) is filled up with a profound message of the archer. This book is an experience and requires re-reading ( A   New Year self-promise!! ). Paulo Coelho reflected in these few pages numerous values that facilitate everyone’s day-to-day work: companionship, flexibility, adaptation to changes, passion, collaboration. This book is a life-changer or not will bank upon relatively on what the reader brings to… and seeks from its pages. For some this book may deliver deep truth in spare sentences; for others, this metaphoric tale could be a trite yawn.  "The Archer" relates the tale of Tetsuya, the best archer in the country, who disseminates his teachings to a boy in his village. The boy has many questions, and in answering t

With this series of blog posts containing knowledge-slash-experience, I pray from almighty that kids have simple but a magical life. The contents of the series are the outcome of the rigorous search, several readings and experiences, and self-reflection. You will constantly hear about "positive attitudes" but the son(s), let me tell you about developing "simple attitudes".       Scientifically, 'Attitude' is composed of three factors, which comprise a cognitive component, an affective or emotional component, and a behavioral component. The cognitive component is based on evidence or knowledge, wher

Book Review- The Fisher Queen's Dynasty by Kavita Kané

The Fisher Queen's Dynasty    Image from Internet Disclaimer- This book review is majorly a self-contemplation. The personalized meaning derived from the book vis-Ă -vis life experiences. The quotes are used directly from the book. Each human being is a story to be told. I recognize the writer of this book Ms. Kavita Kane solely because her unique stories uncover the lesser-known female personalities of Indian folklore. These women characters are strong but rarely received the expected light-of-fame. Kavita introduces them to her readers and lends them a prospect to determine their role in the tales widely read. This book renders the story of the first-part of Mahabharat through Satyavati's eyes. Abandoned at birth, shunned for her skin (Kali) and stench (Matsyagandha), jeered at for prizing ambition over love, this novel is about a lesser-known character of Mahabharat, Satyavati. Satyavati married Shantanu, the king of Hastinapur. She is named as a conniving witch for snatching
