Lockdown Epiphany
Ever wondered how it is possible that what we once thought long ago comes back and gives us that feeling of déjà vu. How the smallest of things triggers a flash of memories that we didn't even know existed and makes us nostalgic? They say that the smell is the first thing we forget and amazingly it is the first thing that instantly connects us with the memories of the past when again encountered upon. Like petrichor never fails to bring the childhood back when the scent of dust after rain sends us to those evenings when going out and playing was the most religious thing to do.Those late nights when sleep betrays and we are lost in a reverie, involuntarily glaring at the moon which somehow entraps us into its illusive beauty throwing us back a couple of decades... almost making us believe that life is still so full of wonders to be explored and opportunities that we can still exercise again. The early morning scenery which blissfully takes us away from the reality into a ostensible world where going for a walk meant longevity and health.
Strange times are upon us when going out is more fatal then staying in. How fraudulent were those narrations which professed that socializing was the way to improve and enhance our social quotient and in turn, our life. Remember the song by legend Kishore Kumar " आनेवाला पल, जानेवाला है…..हो सके तो इस में जिन्दगी बिता दो…..पल जो ये जानेवाला है!!!" So true are these lines. "The moment... it's going to go".
Things might not look so great for this fiscal quarter. But this too shall pass. And we must acknowledge the silver lining. Mother Earth has finally received her much needed brake to heal herself before the next round of greed starts exploiting her to reap void wealth. Infact for humans, it has worked as a healing balm too and has allowed people living under the same roof to become family again… rather than animals that required or brought in capital. These last few weeks were not only meant for us to stay indoors but cherish and enjoy the moments spent with the family. Be it playing a game or cooking food together or enjoying a cup of tea.
Obviously the picture of post- lockdown will again push people to punch in their cards. The only memory of this particular epidemic will be the long home vacation spent in 2020 or time spent on the removal of Lockdown memes from smartphones!
