Book Review- Many Lives, Many Masters by Dr. Brian L. Weiss

Book Review- Many Lives, Many Masters

Author- Dr. Brian L. Weiss

Disclaimer- This book review is majorly a self-contemplation. The personalized meaning derived from book vis-à-vis life experiences. The quotes are used directly from book.

Background of book

The book documents the excursion of Dr. Brian L Weiss from disbelief to belief in regards to messages from the supernatural world and reincarnation.

The various ideas which float in this book include spiritual conversion, connection with the dead and the importance of universal religious teachings such as charity, faith, and love.

Book revolves around one of Dr. Weiss’s patient named Catherine who was a twenty-seven-year-old woman with major anxiety issues. She also suffered from depression and a wide array of phobias. During several sessions, which included conventional therapy, hypnotizing, etc. we get to be part of the transformative saga of both Catherine and Dr Brian Weiss.  Catherine recalls several of past-life memories that helped her acknowledge the source of issues reflecting in present life problems. With this knowledge, her symptoms vanished slowly.

The story may or may not be real, but several revelations of "Master Spirits" are very true.

They are like the lamppost which adhere with the shore of truth and bore the warmth of humanity.

My reflection

Born in Hindu family in India, the theme of the book is not new for me. The concept of soul, karma and the post-death-life are very much part of our cultural belief system. I am believer of Karma (check my thoughts on karma on blog https://wisdomekta.blogspot.com/2020/09/the-law-of-karma-what-goes-around-comes.html)

Patience and timing...everything comes when it must come.  A life cannot be rushed, cannot be worked on a schedule as so many people want it to be.  We must accept what comes to us at a given time, and not ask for more.  But life is endless, so we never die; we were never really born.  We just pass through different phases.  There is no end.  Humans have many dimensions.  But time is not as we see time, but rather in lessons that are learned.(Quote from this book)

Living, loving and forgiving- is the essence of being human. My quest to crystallize simplicity in life gels up with  the core of this book.

As long as we start appreciating this life as per its basic meaning of living, loving and forgiving, we soon will touch the zenith of contentment. Keeping in mind that karma shall follow….help in taking best life decisions. The decisions whose responsibility lies upon us. The decisions whose fruits we shall have to taste.

If we follow this, I am sure…. abruptly all our fears, reasons of suffering either from failures or expectations, depression, etc will get a closure.

The account of karma clearly states that all our debts (in term of our actions and reactions) shall have to be paid.

We have debts that must be paid.  If we have not paid out these debts, then we must take them into another life...in order that they may be worked through.(Quote from this book)

I definitely suggest to read this book (at least once) as it adds to our perspective of understanding life and introduces us to new dimension of looking and living life and idea of next-life.
