The Subtle Heartbreaks of Adult Life (My Old-soul Twinkle)

Disclaimer: “My Old-soul Twinkle,” is my heartfelt attempt to capture the endless stream of thoughts racing through my mind. At times, these musings may seem confusing—or even a little "out there"—but I genuinely welcome your counterpoints and insights. Dive in and share your thoughts

आदमी मरने के बाद कुछ नहीं सोचता।

आदमी मरने के बाद कुछ नहीं बोलता।

कुछ नहीं सोचने और कुछ नहीं बोलने पर आदमी मर जाता है।

And this muteness is eating away at the soul of humankind!!

Let me explain.

People are speaking. On video, through blog posts, through multiple channels, and non-stop chattering is now a buzz in human ears. This constant buzzing has numbed the mind, and we have stopped speaking the “things” “required” to be spoken.

“Thing” means feelings, emotions, honesty, truth, pain, fear, injustice, and the hard realities.
The language of not-so-blunt but yet-not-sugarcoated.

In the name of being mature, social, practical, and politically correct, my inner child feels severe heartbreak every single day. She has grown quiet and reserved, baffled by what goes on around her. Watching people chase petty gains and short-term tactics leaves her with burning questions: What is your ultimate goal? Where are you rushing to? Who are you pretending for?

But alas, she never asks.

And perhaps it is better she stays silent. Asking "why" never yields the truth—it only gives people a stage to fabricate, justify, and spin another tale. These heartbreaks are slowly reshaping me. They are lending me strength…though for what end, I cannot tell. I guess making me wiser, more reserved, and undeniably alone (not in a bad sense).

There is an odd peace in solitude; unlike the crowd, it demands no pretenses.

I still wonder how my parents weathered this world, or how anyone keeps their cool amidst the chaos. Are they all performing, or did they simply choose numbness as self-defense? Perhaps I am still too naive, still carrying raw senses and open eyes into a room built on walls. The world thrives on commentary and clever spins, while authentic connection quietly starves. They say you must find your "herd", but where do you find real, unaltered human warmth?

When will we speak? Who is truly listening?

I don't have the answers. But as long as my heart can still feel the ache of this world, it means it is still beating, still awake, and still alive.

And maybe that is enough for today: to remain uncorrupted by the rush, to keep the question alive, and to trust that life always finds a way to bring genuine souls together.

  1. Very well written. We really need sit back and think amidst all the noise of what is necessary and what is not?

  2. Can't disagree. I just choose to disengage. Being an over-thinker, the feasibility of putting a break on my train of thoughts is a non-viable feat for me. So going numb is a can't do. But one doesn't find their tribe or herd as you say. It finds you. The sooner, the better for the soul. Though being able to ride that train and choosing the right stations to halt at, all by yourself; that's the journey for the soul.
