We, the Zombies- A Conversation!!

When I ask- Who are zombies?

You can say- They are fictional undead creatures mainly seen in movies or a few series.

Right?!

But I say - No… Zombies are now real creatures. With the present-day “perceived loss of freedom” and “surrender of common sense” to machines, the zombification process has accelerated.

You can say - No, I don't see them... where to find.

I say- Look around yourself. You will see a ghost in a crowd, enclosed in its own sonic bubble. Eyes swollen, handcuffed with a device, and under mental servitude. Noticing every beep or tweak of notification. HIGH ON AI AND LESS ON HI!!

You can say - Isn’t it your narcissism speaking? With technology, aren’t we better?

I say- The promise of technology was to free us. To lift the burdens of labor, to connect us across vast distances, to give us more time for the things that truly matter. Yes, we have increased speed for sending messages, getting work done, etc. In the process, a genuine human connection is disrupted. Senses are numbed by the sheer volume of information, and our ability to feel for others is blunted by the lack of personal context. We are trying to justify the confusion, but if justification is needed, that means confusion persists. In the constant uproar of justifications, a vital component of deep thought and humanity is getting diverted. Efficiency over emotion, data over dialogue, and connectivity over connection - we are under zombification. We are moving towards an empty self.

You can say- This is how the world works. See, the circle of life is magical, and you should hope for better.

I say—I am afraid of becoming part of the horde of identical, shuffling figures and of turning into just another cog in the machine. The fear of losing myself in the tsunami of unexamined external pressure. Sometimes, in this world of “no rule” or rather “rule of convenience,” I get lost in the dichotomy of right or wrong.

Although I may sometimes agree with you, even in the bleakest zombie narratives, there is often a glimmer of hope. Because as in zombie movies, characters fight not just to survive, but to rebuild, find a cure, or create a safe haven for others. I still have faith in this fundamental human drive to persevere, find meaning in suffering, and believe that a better tomorrow is possible!!

Your turn....
