Self-Story 2023

Image
To put things in honesty, this past year, I have moved from not-required-things-&-people. However, in this journey of “freedom from” and still walking towards “my freedom to” , there are many self-unique emotional and spiritual learnings and reflections. Here is the gist of those- 1. From the arrogance of knowing it all to the humble appreciation of what I know and acknowledgement that much is to be learned or requires further reading or meditation. 2. From “talking at each other” to “talking with each other” to understand others and be understood. 3. From being happy to becoming content . I remain open to receiving the magic of life and thus remain flexible to go with the flow. Now, I realise that unconditional love resides in each of us, but enabling it to be felt by ourselves and conveyed to others requires an inner spiritual awakening first. 4. From being a spouse to being a soulmate and friend . I am grateful to nature for giving me joyful and lovely accompanime...

Book review- Lanka's Princess by Kavita Kané

Surpanakha, the woman 'as hard as nails', was born as Meenakshi, the one with beautiful, fish-shaped eyes. She is the lead character of my book titled Lanka’s Princess. Ramayana is the most written story in the world because of the uniqueness of its characters and the fact that there are many unsung characters in the story. Each character is specific in feature and has directly or indirectly affected the outcome of this mythology. Meenakshi is the youngest sibling of Raavan. Growing up in the shadows of her brothers, who were destined to win wars, fame and prestige, she instead charted out a path filled with misery and revenge. The main story of turning Meenakshi to Surpanakha begins when she elaborates on the devious plan to seek revenge with Ravan for killing her husband, Vidyujiva and from Ram and Lakshman after they killed her son Kumar in the Dandak forest. Shurpanakha receives no peculiar mention from Valmiki, but Kavita Kane has brought much life to her. She ...

Book review- Beyond Order by Jordan Peterson

Image
After being impressed by his first writing, 12 Rules for Life , this next book from a clinical psychologist and celebrated professor at Harvard and the University of Toronto, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, titled Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life , was a long read. In the words of Jordan Peterson - 12 Rules "argues for the merits of a more conservative view of the world," while Beyond Order "argues for the merits of a more liberal view" . The book presents a theme that too much security in life- from physical to social to emotional- is dangerous. The person, culture, or nation that is ready to accept the changes and thus the challenges is the one that can thrive and flourish in any sense or adversity. The book advocates believing in instincts and thus fulfilling purpose in life. The book comprises twelve chapters, the titles of which suggest "rules for life"- 1. "Do not carelessly denigrate social institutions or creative achievement." 2....

Celebrate neighbor's victory (Advice to my kids)

Dear Söhne (Sons in German), Winning is an over-celebrated phenomenon socially projected as an essential factor directly attached to emotions and overall happiness index. And it may be true also. However, being happy with others winning is another happiness I wish you guys to feel and develop in your lifestyle. As you grow, you shall realise that we all thrive in winners' situations as it showcases the prospects of self-progress and social- promotion. In this race of self-winning and marketing self-promotion, we sometimes lose the path of self-worth and wrongly begin to perceive winning with self-worth. Moreover, to remain realistic and practical, you must develop empathy. Thus, you must understand and imbibe the trait/character of praising others for their success and respecting others’ journey of failure. Mind it, for me, the definition of praising others is not merely pressing the “like” button on Facebook or double-clicking posts on Instagram…it is about the natu...
